January is School Board Recognition Month, a great opportunity to say thank you to the USD 338 Valley Falls Board of Education who are committed to the success of every student in our community. Our board of education includes (from L to R) Jesse Nickelson, Brady Frost, Jami Heinen, Jesica Clark, Donny Smith, Aaron Sprang, Kimberly Kirkham (not pictured) These seven community leaders volunteer their time attending meetings, reading reports and discussing plans and programs to support educational achievement. USD 338 encourages the entire community to thank a school board member, not only this month but throughout the entire year.

USD 338 is proud and excited to announce that Phoebe Stottlemire has been named as a recipient of the Kansas Horizon Award. This award recognizes exemplary first year teachers who perform in a way that distinguishes them as outstanding. She received a phone call today from Dr. Randy Watson, who is the Kansas Education Commissioner. He informed her of the great news at the beginning of her high school band class. Congratulations Ms. Stottlemire! You are a great educator and we are very fortunate to have you working with our students!
